'You're free to go.'
Oh thank StarClan! Crystalpaw had been waiting to hear those words all day. Literally, all day. Silvershade had shaken her awake before dawn for some hard battle training and it was past sunhigh already. Without having to be told twice, Crystalpaw bounded away from her grey-pelted mentor, shouting a farewell over her shoulder. Soft ferns whipped past the tortoiseshell she-cat as she bounded through SkyClan's forested territory away from the cramped clearing where she and Silvershade had been practicing close-quarters combat. Her medium length fur was in total disarray from their hours long scuffling session but Crystalpaw didn't pay it any mind. Instead she focused on not tripping over tree roots or the narrow brooks that crisscrossed the territory. She made a beeline for camp, bounding past the afternoon patrol as they headed out of the camp entrance, nearly running headlong into Rootpaw. Shouting an apology over her shoulder, Crystalpaw skidded into the camp clearing in a whirl of mismatched fur. Bits of leaves and grass still clung to her fur from trying to wrestle Silvershade. A few queens near the nursery tutted at her and one called out that she should clean herself up. Giggling, Crystalpaw totally ignored them, bounding toward the apprentice den.
It didn't take long for the dilute tortoiseshell to spy her target. Dunepaw was curled up in his nest, fast asleep. The older apprentice was dappled with sunlight and looked perfectly peaceful. Grinning like a raven proud of its own trick, Crystalpaw took a running start and leaped on the slumbering tom.
"Wake up Dunepaw!" Crystalpaw meowed, tugging on his ear gently. "Come on! You promised you'd go exploring with me today after training!"
Maybe promised wasn't the right word but Crystalpaw had been able to get him to agree to it last night. The apprentices had been all gathered around swapping silly stories, even the aloof Minkpaw and Rootpaw had joined in. It had been great! Of course Dunepaw hadn't liked some of the scarier stories but Crystalpaw either way, that didn't matter now. She bounced to her feet, little white paws dancing excitedly as she waited for Dunepaw to rouse himself and stop panicking about her pouncing on him.
"Come on, come on! Let's go! Silvershade took forever today! It was awful! And so boring! Let's do something fun!"
Fun meant outside of camp well away from stuffed up warriors. Not that all of SkyClan's warriors were nosey but Crystalpaw had to say some of the older ones sure were joykills. They tutted at her for always looking like she got hit by a whirlwind, breezing into camp to breeze right back out again, fur ruffled from the wind that blew through the trees from WindClan's moors and mischief in her eyes. Crystalpaw didn't care what they thought but she liked to spend her days well away from them. Sometimes she ran off alone and would be gone all day, running through the branches or snooping through ferny clearings but it was more fun with company. Someone to play games with, tell stories to and get into trouble with. Today's victim was Dunepaw whether he liked it or not! Now if only she could get Dunepaw to move his tail...
NOTES. her energy is too much but i just love her
